Hello!

This Web site contains words and pictures describing the first time I've lived outside of the United States.

Click ``archives'' to see the entries from September through December 2004.

The photos and essays are my impressions of traveling around Europe and working in London. Names and pictures of some people are missing, because I didn't have permission to post their photos! Thus, you won't see many pictures of my work colleagues, although I grew affection for them all.

Hope you enjoy the site!

-- To all my friends who followed my journeys through this blog - thank you! I miss you, and I hope to see you now that I'm stateside! =)

Cheers,

Samantha and AJ in Paris! Dec. 13 – 14

We decided to take a side trip to see some sunshine!
Click ``read more’’ to see photos of the Boro girls in Paris!
First we went to Le Tour Eiffel

Samantha underneath the tower

The Louvre at night – it was cold!

Paris, like London, is bidding for the 2012 Olympics

Yay ride the Metro! We kept having people approach us to talk to us.
Even after we told them we didn’t understand them!
What part of ``Je ne parle pas francais’’ don’t people understand?
But they were trying to befriend us.

Walking the Champs-Elysees – so glamorous!
They light up all the trees at night.

Sammie buys cow girl boots at Zara's on the Champs

Then we met up with a friend, and he took us through the Jewish and gay neighborhood!

Thanks K.R. for dinner! It was so great meeting with you!

Breakfast the next morning. Samantha looks like a local.
Oy that's a long baguette!

Us after ordering breakfast. (I had quiche)

Then off to Ile de la Cite!

This man in front of Notre Dame had hundreds of birds around him.
Samantha said it was disgusting. Haha.

Samantha looks for Quasimodo

Everything looks special around Christmas time

We saw lots of artists inside Notre Dame.

I lit a candle

Yay Jesus!

One of the rose windows

Behind the pulpit

Another artist

A nativity scene in Notre Dame

Who doesn’t love Paris?

Us by the Seine, near Hotel deVille

Sammie by the Arc de Triomphe

Shopping again!

That night, we took the train back to London, and I ate for the last time at Spice Grills.
Here we are with the staff!

I'm in the United States!

. . . And the sun is shining. And there aren't any clouds. And my niece and nephew are watching Jerry Springer!

Last night my family and I ate at a diner. I woke up this morning, and wondered if Europe was all a dream. Because everything here stayed the same.

Did I really go? Am I really back?

Except now I have friends across the Atlantic that I miss, and an opportunity to go back and work in London.

I have much to think about.

Stay tuned for my final entry, with photos of Samantha's visit to Paris!! :)

It's 3 a.m. and I'm still packing. My belongings are a mess on the floor and bed.
I couldn't sleep if I wanted to, there's no room on my bed for me.

My mind flashes back 4 months ago, when I sat in my room, filled with the same dread. Only, in Chicago I had to load everything in my car myself, and then drive it 14 hours east. Tomorrow, Nancy will take me to Heathrow, and I will fly 7 hours west.

My whole world is in the U.S. and I'm going back to it. Back to green money, American Mornings, Jiff Peanut Butter, The Daily Show, stars and stripes, and everyone I know and love.

See you all soon,

Love me :)

PS: Check back on this blog for the next few days, I'll post photos of Samantha's and my visit to Paris!

Samantha and I left London on Monday morning to catch some Paris sunshine, meet a friend, and go shopping! La dolce vita. We're back in London now . . . pics coming soon.

About comments: You may have noticed a lot of irritating comments posted by some casino company. My site is being spammed by comments that don't make any sense! So I've had to turn off the comment function. Sad. And I have a lot of comments to delete, because they posted five comments for every blog entry I've ever written. Bastards. I want revenge on that bot . . .

Anyway, to my frequent comment posters, thanks guys! You're awesome and if you want to continue to comment, e-mail me and I'll set you up an account.

Welcome in every language!

People were beheaded here. Peace.

We’re such tourists

We walked Regent Street and Oxford Street and ate dinner . . .

Then ice skating at Somerset House, with the coolest music.
Sinatra. Black Eyed Peas.
It served all types!

Everyone skated around and around to great music, under fire torches.
Sam said it was romantic. =)

The end of Sammie’s second day in London!

Click “read more” to see photos of Samantha’s first night in LondonSamantha thinks our neighborhood is cute!

This cat scared her. Silly Sam.

Samantha started to run away when it got up.
“That cat is so big!”

Christmas caroling in Trafalgar Square!

In front of the Trafalgar tree

Samantha meets Tony Blair!

He says hello to me too

Matt DeFour showed up from Dublin!!
The last time I saw him, we were spending the night with Sara and Will under the Eiffel Tower!
We meet again . . .
Here’s Matt and Sammie on the Queen’s Jubilee bridge

If someone had told me in high school that this would one day happen, I wouldn’t have believed them. AJ and Sam in London!

We decided to ride the London Eye!!!

Riding the London Eye

Those beams of light are the Oxford Street lights, which can be seen throughout London!

They will see us waving from such great heights . . . =)

You can see the Parliament Christmas tree!

Back on the ground

We were up there!

The Leicester Square carnival!

“Are you guys in the queue?”

Everyone loves the carnival!

Lights and colors

We go on the swings! (yay kids again)

Are we all journalists or what?

(Kris will have photos of me on her site. . . haha.)

The swings whir by!

Where to eat?

But Sammie and I weren’t ready to eat.
One more ride, on the Tilt-a-whirl, with this guy, who paid for our ride ticket for the privilege of riding with us . . . haha!

I wasn’t hungry after this ride

Last night in London for them. (Sniffle)
It’s been fun mis amis

Time to say good night!

The Pakistani family who runs Spice Grills, where I eat dinner every night, has invited me to stay with their cousins for free in Pakistan if I ever visit. Hmmm. Seriously considering it. Pakistan - how cool!

The family really likes me because 1. I eat at their restaurant EVERY night and 2. The owner's brother runs a gas station in New Jersey. (I'm not making this up.) And I'm from Jerz.

I'll miss my Naan bread with Saag Paneer or Paneer Tikka Massala every night. =)
