We took a riverboat tour to Greenwich, the place where Greenwich Mean Time is kept, and thus sets Longitude for the entire world. The Prime Meridian runs right through it, so you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
I wonder what she’s laughing at?
Eileen and I on the boat
The London Eye against a London sky
The OXO Tower from the outside. Remember, we
ate there a few weeks ago!
An entry to the Tower of London that can only be seen from the river! This “Entry to the Traitor’s Gate” is where prisoners passed via boat before they had their heads “surgically removed with an axe.” – The tourguide
Kris and I sat on the bow.
This E stands for “execution.”
Also along this river are the pubs where Dickens wrote his novels!!
This boat is named Cutty Sark!
Americans have a problem with almost getting hit by cars in this country.
Luckily, signs on the ground help us out.
There she goes. Go to
Kris’s site to see what this is all about.
What a sight we must be. Kris photographing her bear, and me photographing Kris while she does it.
Hundreds of pictures taken, and we haven’t even gotten to the Prime Meridian line yet!
That’s Millennium Dome off to the left
If you look through this old-fashioned telescope, you can see Pluto!
We looked up what time it was for all of our friends doing Global Journalism! It was nighttime in India and New Zealand. In Argentina, the sun was just rising!
The Observatory
Down a very steep hill. We were holding up traffic.
Nothing to warm us up like lunch and Trivial Pursuit in a cozy pub!
(The British version is really hard!)
Here we are outside the pub, The King’s Arms!
(Thanks Kris for the photo!)
Then off to a crowded market!
My jacket is the same color as this Constable’s!
The End!
